This small island nestled between Capri and Ischia is thankfully overlooked by international travellers in favour of its bigger siblings. Though Neapolitans do flock here in the summer months, it still retains a charming authenticity, thanks in part to the fewer number of tourists that pass through. Infact, its cultural charm is seemingly a protected characteristic, particularly following its accreditation as Capital of Culture in 2022 (the first island to win the award). The funding was spent in celebrating the unique island culture and traditions that make Procida so special, and retaining these qualities for future visitors.
Delight at the pastel-painted harbourfront, the skinny, sun-kissed streets that wind through the villages, and the relaxed pace of life. Throw in smaller hotels, beautiful beaches and a volcanic nature reserve to explore, and Procida has that overlooked island charm by the bucket load.
